After each conference day we welcome the participants to explore our wonderful city. To help you plan for your leisure during and after the conference we have gathered a few pieces of information below.
Wrocław
Wrocław Zoo and African Pavilion
- One of the most popular tourist spots in the city. It is the third most diverse zoo in the world, housing 12 000 animals, animals, 1 100 species!
- From the conference building you can do a healthy 16 minute walk or take the trams 1, 2, 4, 10 or 19 from Pl. Grunwaldzki or Kliniki – Politechnika Wrocławska stop, exit at Hala stulecia or Zoo stop (they are equaly close to the entrance). Or clik on this google maps link for the directions.
- Opening hours and ticket prices may be found at the zoo’s website.
- Make sure that you also see the Centennial Hall building located on the opposite side of the road. This pearl of modernism is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, you can relax by the nearby Multimedia Fountain and Pergola.
Market square
- The picturesque center of the city, the market square contains the neogothic city hall (errected as early as the XII century, with current design dating back to late 1800s), a whipping post, as well as many restaurants and cafés and a fountain. And have a look-around for those famous Wrocław dwarf statues.
- From the Pl. Grunwaldzki stop take trams 10, 12 or 13 and exit at Świdnicka (tram line 10 also runs from Kliniki – Politechnika Wrocławska). Or click on this google maps link for the directions.
Hydropolis
- It is a unique exhibition center dedicated to water – the most important compound on earth.
- The water-themed exhibition is housed in a 19th-century underground clean water reservoir. The visitors can expand their horizons through interactive installations, multimedia and more.
- The tickets and opening hours can be checked on the museum website.
- You can reach the museum by a 10 minute walk from tram stops Pl. Wróblewskiego (lines 3, 4, 5 and 16) and Urząd Wojewódzki (Impart) (lines 4, 12, 13, 16).
- Alternatively, you can take our legendary university cable car – Polinka. The station is just 3 minutes from the conference venue and runs on working days from 7 AM to 9 PM. The south station is another 3 minutes from Hydropolis and the ride costs as much as any other public transport ticket!
The Invisible House
- This is a once-in -a-lifetime experience near the Market Square. The Invisible House is a journey into darkness where imagination replaces light, and everyday objects become challenges. It’s a place where sight loses importance, and your other senses guide you through the unknown.
- Note: this attraction is strongly NOT recommended to peaople who feel uncomfortable in darkness, as the experience lasts around 45 minutes in complete darkness.
- Tours in Polish are conducted every 15 minutes for groups of up to 10 people. If you want a tour in English, earlier contact with the venue by phone or email. More information can be found on the website.
