Prof. Dario Pisignano

Dario Pisignano, PhD in Physics, is Associate Professor at the University of Salento. He coordinates an interdisciplinary group working on Nanotechnologies on Soft Matter at the Department of Mathematics and Physics “Ennio De Giorgi” of the University of Salento and at the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (CNR-Nano). His research activity is focused on the development of advanced polymer processing and lithographic approaches, electrospinning, and soft lithographies, for realizing micro-nanostructured devices, organic lasers and functional systems. He has been International Evaluator for projects for the National Science Foundation (NSF) U.S.A., the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), the Czech Science Foundation (GACR) and the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. He has been member of the International Advisory Committee of the “International Conference on Electrospinning” and of the Optical Materials, Fabrication and Characterization Committee of the “Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics” (CLEO). He serves as Referee of the main international journals in the fields of Solid-State Physics, Nanotechnology and Materials Science, including Physical Review Letters, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Advanced Materials, and Laser & Photonics Reviews. He authored about 170 papers and five patents, and has been awarded the “Young researcher” Prize at the National INFM-Meeting, the International Obducat Prize for Nanoimprinting Lithography, the National Award “Future in Research” of the Ministry of Education, University and Research, the “Sergio Panizza” Award for Optoelectronics and Photonics (Italian Physics Society, SIF), and a Prize by the Erwin Schrödinger Society for Nanosciences. Prof. Wojciech Pisula

Dr. habil. Wojciech Pisula studied chemical engineering at the University of Applied Science Osnabrück and at the University of Wales, Swansea, where he gained his Master of Science. In 2001, he joined the group of Professor Klaus Müllen at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, where he completed his dissertation in 2005. There, he focused on the control of the supramolecular self-organization of discotic liquid crystalline polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with a strong interest in their application in electronic devices. During this time, he worked in the Department of Polymer Physics under the supervision of Professor Tadeusz Pakula. In 2006 he changed to a full position at Evonik Industries AG keeping in the same time his status as project leader at the MPIP. Beginning of 2015 he received his habilitation for material science at the Technical University of Darmstadt by mentorship of Professor Heinz von Seggern. Mid 2015 he has been additionally employed as an associate professor at the Lodz University of Technology in the Department of Molecular Physics of Professor Jacek Ulanski. His research interests are physical chemical aspects of π-conjugated self-organizing systems and their functionality. (source) Conference Abstract

Prof. Halina Podbielska

Prof. Alain Wagner

Dr. Alain Wagner obtained his Ph.D. in synthetic chemistry at the University of Strasbourg in 1991. During his post-doctoral training in a start-up in Silicon Valley (Affymax, 1991), he worked in the field of catalytic antibodies and combinatorial synthesis. Dr. Wagner joined CNRS in 1994 to develop projects involving chemistry, biology and biotechnology. Promoted to the position of Research Director in 2001, Dr. Wagner took a sabbatical to found and manage Novalix Pharma (2002). He later participated actively in the creation of Phytodia (2007) and eNovalys (2009). On returning to the CNRS, he took charge of the Laboratory of Functional Chemo-Systems. Dr. Wagner pursues rupture research, the bases of innovation and industrial value creation. The team, which he manages, pioneers the possibilities offered by controlling exogenous chemistry in living organisms. This rising domain is the seed of scientific advances and promises of progress in multiple therapeutic, diagnostic and technological applications.
